Go Beyond the 2024 Player's Handbook with Custom Cards

Add custom cards for any spells you want and share them with your table so everyone has access to the spells they'll need for your campaign.

5e Spellbook Builder has all 391 of the 2024 edition Players Handbook spells. For each spell that has a 2014 equivalent, it also has those rules you can flip between.

But what about when you need a spell that isn't in the 2024 edition?

Well this was a problem back when I used physical cards for the 2014 edition. They stopped producing physical spell cards once the second big rules expansion, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything arrived, so my complete collection suddenly had holes.

Then books came out like Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, a new campaign setting book that would randomly sprinkle in a few new spells.

So what was I to do?

Well my divination wizard just had to show up with the over powered spell Silvery Barbs, so I filled out a blank card and brought it to the table.

It looked ugly and mismatched from my official cards, but was worth it to trigger disadvantage on my enemies and load up my allies with advantage, all the while my DM wondering where I had found that spell and if he'd even permit it at the table.

Now you can do the same in 5e Spellbook Builder and create your own cards, but with a few advantages.

  • The cards match the look of all other cards in 5e Spellbook Builder
  • Any cards you make can be exported to a file and shared
  • You can categorize them and filter for them along with all the official spells

This means as a DM, you can create and share packs of the custom spells you want to allow your players to use in your campaign. Or as a player you can add in spells from other sourcebooks or homebrew content and share it with your DM.

To create your cards, click Create a custom spell in the Spell List. To export any cards you've created, go to the Export Data section in Settings.

Create them. Edit them. Delete them. Share them. Print them. Use them.

But maybe pause on letting Silvery Barbs into your campaign.
