You touch one willing creature. Once before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to one ability check of its choice. It can roll the die before or after making the ability check. The spell then ends.

Guidance 5.5e 2024 vs. 5e 2014 edition differences

In 2024, you choose a skill when you cast it, and for the full minute the target adds 1d4 to every ability check it makes with that skill. In 2014, the target could add 1d4 to only one ability check, chosen before or after the roll.
