You touch one willing creature, and choose Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Poison. Until the spell ends, the target can take a Magic action to exhale a 15-foot Cone. Each creature in that area makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d6 damage of the chosen type on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.

Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot level above 2.

Until the spell ends, the creature can use an action to exhale energy of the chosen type in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d6 damage of the chosen type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd.

Dragon's Breath 5.5e 2024 vs. 5e 2014 edition differences

The 2024 version requires the target to take a Magic action to exhale energy, whereas the 2014 version uses the creature's action. The damage increase wording in 2024 specifies "The damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot level above 2," while 2014 states "damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd."
