You suggest a course of activity—described in no more than 25 words—to twelve or fewer creatures you can see within range that can hear and understand you. The suggestion must sound achievable and not involve anything that would obviously deal damage to any of the targets or their allies. For example, you could say, “Walk to the village down that road, and help the villagers there harvest crops until sunset.” Or you could say, “Now is not the time for violence. Drop your weapons, and dance! Stop in an hour.” Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or have the Charmed condition for the duration or until you or your allies deal damage to the target. Each Charmed target pursues the suggestion to the best of its ability. The suggested activity can continue for the entire duration, but if the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends for a target upon completing it.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The duration is longer with a spell slot of level 7 (10 days), 8 (30 days), or 9 (366 days).

You suggest a course of activity (limited to a sentence or two) and magically influence up to twelve creatures of your choice that you can see within range and that can hear and understand you. Creatures that can't be charmed are immune to this effect. The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the course of action sound reasonable. Asking the creature to stab itself, throw itself onto a spear, immolate itself, or do some other obviously harmful act automatically negates the effect of the spell.
Each target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it pursues the course of action you described to the best of its ability. The suggested course of action can continue for the entire duration. If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do.
You can also specify conditions that will trigger a special activity during the duration. For example, you might suggest that a group of soldiers give all their money to the first beggar they meet. If the condition isn't met before the spell ends, the activity isn't performed.
If you or any of your companions damage a creature affected by this spell, the spell ends for that creature.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. When you cast this spell using a 7th-level spell slot, the duration is 10 days. When you use an 8th-level spell slot, the duration is 30 days. When you use a 9th-level spell slot, the duration is a year and a day.

Spells similar to Mass Suggestion
Suggestion 2nd-level enchantment
This is the lower-level single-target version of the same idea: you impose a reasonable course of action that a target follows if it fails a Wisdom save.
Geas 5th-level enchantment
Geas similarly forces long-term compelled behavior with a save and long duration, serving the same strategic goal of controlling a creature's actions over time.
Antipathy/Sympathy 8th-level enchantment
That enchantment steers creatures' behavior at range for days, making it a broad, nonviolent way to influence crowds like mass persuasion does.
Modify Memory 5th-level enchantment
Modify Memory manipulates a creature's mind to change how it acts afterward, giving a different avenue to achieve social control and long-term influence.
Otto's Irresistible Dance 6th-level enchantment
At the same spell level and school, this forces creatures to perform an action against their will and can affect multiple targets, matching Mass Suggestion's crowd-control flavor.
